Hi guys, it’s Nadirah here, Welcome to Dev’Edge 🤍🍧

So picture this: late nights, way too many ideas flying around, and a WhatsApp chat with my parents full of “can you imagine this…” and “what if I was to do this…” messages. That was the start of Dev’Edge. Not in some fancy office or with a huge budget, but in conversations full of hope, frustration, and stubborn belief that something had to change.

That’s how Dev’Edge Foundation came to life: a space created by young people, for young people, to reimagine what development in Africa could look like if we actually led it. We grew up singing “We are the leaders of tomorrow,” so Dev’Edge became our way of making that real.

From the very beginning, the goal wasn’t to create another NGO with fancy words. The goal was to build a movement where youth can actually do things that matter:

• Health → because “an apple a day keeps the doctor away” doesn’t mean much when the average Nigerian can’t even afford a bottle of water, let alone an apple. Health should never be a privilege.

• Education → because too many children are having to pick between school and survival. How do we expect a child to focus in class when the biggest thought on their mind is, “Where am I going to find food to eat today?”

• Empowerment → because I grew up with a single mother who moved mountains and achieved what many of the people limiting women would only dream of. Seeing her strength showed me first-hand what happens when a woman is empowered and how that ripple effect empowers everyone around her, including me.

  
  

It hasn’t been easy. Honestly, sometimes it feels like I’m building the plane mid-flight and occasionally misplacing the screwdriver 😂. But the support, the energy, and the belief people already have in this vision prove one thing: I’m not alone. There are so many of us out here who believe we can build the future we deserve.

I’m a blogger at heart, so of course I had to find a way to blend that with something I love this deeply. This blog will be our corner to share the journey: the wins, the struggles, the behind-the-scenes, and the voices of the amazing people who make Dev’Edge real.

So hii again 👋🏽 I’m Nadirah. This is me saying welcome aboard. Stick around, laugh with us, cry with us, and maybe even volunteer with us.

Because honestly, if an idea that started as a string of “what ifs” on WhatsApp could grow into Dev’Edge, imagine what we can all build together.
